Ted Cheesemann is a PhD candidate at Southern Cross University, Australia, and co-founder of the research collaboration and citizen science web platform Happywhale. His work has pioneered automated image recognition AI for humpback whales resulting in a global dataset of over 60,000 individuals, applied to understand ecosystem change at an ocean-basin scale.
